A paraglider pilot who was left dangling for more than three hours after crashing into a tree in northern Victoria has been rescued.

The man became stuck 20 metres off the ground at Cobram Track in Koonoomoo about 8:00pm on Saturday and was later removed from the tree using specialist rescue equipment.

John Mullen from Ambulance Victoria said the man was taken to hospital with a shoulder injury.

“He wasn’t suffering any major injuries and was talking to emergency services and paramedics,” he said

“[It took] about three-and-a-half hours … before some heavy crane gear was able to be brought in, a cherry picker was brought in and he was able to be brought down to the ground.

“From what he was saying, the fact he didn’t suffer any major injuries … I think they’re still trying to work out how he went into the tree.”
